Using your computer to its best capacity
Most of us have computers which are far more powerful than what we’ll ever need them for. However, this shouldn’t stop you from making the most of your time at the computer. My motto is (among other things): if it can be done online, do it online. Here are some examples of things that will save you time, money, and aggravation if you commit to doing them online:
- When you have a short communication, send an e-mail instead of picking up the phone. After all, you won’t waste time hearing about your oh-so-successful cousin’s business if you don’t choose to call your aunt to get her zip code. Even better, look up her zip code at usps.com instead of sending an e-mail. Even simpler. Less personal, but simpler.
- Pay your bills and monitor your finances online. Set up automatic bill pay for anything that is consistently the same amount every month. Open a savings account and have your bank automatically deposit money into it at pre-determined intervals.
- Buy tickets to sporting events, concerts, etc through Ebay or accredited ticketing agencies. No more waiting in line to score those great seats!
- Read the paper on the computer. You’ll avoid all those print ads, and you’ll only read what really interests you.
- Keep track of birthdays, anniversaries, etc using the Calendar function in your e-mail program. Many programs will even notify you when you have an event coming up.
These are just a few examples of ways that you can save time, money, and aggravation by using your computer. If you want to hear more, let me know in the comments section below.

I use the computer for everything. In fact I canceled my regular phone service and just use my cell phone when needed. Great tips.
